Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the UNM GallupBranch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.

The University of New Mexico Gallup Branch,Business & Applied Technology Division, anticipates hiring temporarypart-time faculty for the Multi-Vocational Service Occupations and StudentAchieving New Divisions (MVSO/SAND) Programs to teach face-to-face and/ordevelop lower division courses (100 level) in general studies in the Fall 2024and Spring 2025 semesters. The MVSO/SAND Programs are part of the Center forCareer & Technical Education (CCTE), which offers concurrent enrollmentopportunities for high school students enrolled in one of the six area schooldistricts. Anticipated openings potentially include the following subject:

  • General Studies 093/Career Decision Making (Fall Semester)
  • General Studies 093/The Job Search Process (Spring Semester)
  • General Studies 095/Practicum I
  • General Studies 095/Practicum II

UNM Gallup is a two-year branch campus of theUniversity of New Mexico located approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque. The University of New Mexico established branch colleges to provide thehighest quality of education for students pursuing post-secondary education atdifferent locations throughout the state. Branch colleges respond specificallyto the unique needs and multicultural backgrounds of their respectivecommunities by offering community education programs, career and technicaleducation including certificate and associate degree programs, and transferprograms that prepare students for upper division entry into colleges anduniversities.

UNM Gallup instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they areteaching including but not limited to meeting with the class during assignedtimes that may include online, evenings and/or weekends, content delivery,assignment development, grading assignments, reporting of grades, andassessment of student learning as outlined by the department chair.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by studentenrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduationrequirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up tothe deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who areselected for these positions will report to the division chair.

Wages
Adjunct faculty arecurrently compensated on the basis of their credentials and credit hour courseloads, as follows:

Bachelors Degree, less than 12 hours College teaching $881.92

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Education, Special Education, or closely related field
  • Experience in classroom teaching
  • Developing and delivering instructional materials

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Education, Special Education, or closely related field
  • Experience with school-to-work transition services for student with exceptionalities
  • Experience working with students who have special learning needs at the secondary level (i.e., learning disabilities, physical/mobility issues, autism, emotional/behavioral situations)
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity,inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diversecommunities
