Job Description

ASU Kerr is seeking an event professional to coordinate ticketing office operations. The ideal candidate will provide top-notch customer service, build events and sell tickets through Ticketmaster, and work events. This position is the first point of contact for all patrons that enter our venue during business hours. This position reports to the General Manager.


This is an hourly, full time position that requires a flexible work schedule to accommodate night, weekend and/or holiday events. Ticket office hours are Wednesday – Friday, 9am-5pm except when Monday or Tuesday ticketed events are scheduled. This position will work events at night and on the weekend but hours will be balanced to maintain a 40-hour work week.


Salary Range

$20.00 - $21.00 per hour; DOE

Essential Duties

  • Accept cash, checks or bank cards for purchase of event tickets via in-person, telephone, or mail orders; complete transactions according to established procedures.
  • Build and submit event data for transference to our website and other ticketing websites.
  • Set up discount programs under the direction of the General Manager or Program Coordinator.
  • Interact with the public, answer questions and resolve difficult/complex problems.
  • Balance cash drawers against receipts; assist staff when balancing problems occur, resolve discrepancies and prepare deposits.
  • Prepare invoices, reconciliations, summary reports/records and files of transaction data, including consignment ticket processes.
  • Train and oversee new cashiers, including training in the use of a computerized ticketing system. Coordinate work schedules and prioritize work for students.
  • Assist in supervision during events and related activities.
  • Sell and coordinate tickets to specialty groups.
  • Work events as facility representative when needed.
  • Conduct tours of the property for potential renters and patrons.
  • Assist Program Coordinator with marketing tasks as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years of experience in cashiering, accounting and record keeping related to ticket sales OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience in offering a high level of customer service.
  • Skill in cashiering procedures, handling complaints and managing conflict.
  • Experience in using good judgment. 
  • Ability to set priorities. 
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Skill in accounting and record keeping related to ticket sales.
  • Knowledge of computerized ticketing systems.
  • Familiarity with the performing arts. 
  • Evidence of a valid Class D US driver's license and ability to drive on university business.


Working Environment

  • Ability to push, pull and lift up to 25lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and climb stairs.
  • Proficient computer skills. 
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. 
  • Able to meet, greet, and direct all visitors, staff, and faculty.
  • Maintain the regularly scheduled hours at ASU Kerr.
  • Answers multiline telephone.
  • Use computer to utilize ticketing systems and produce reports.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Drive on university business and possess a valid Class D US driver license upon employment.
