Job Description
Grand Canyon University is seeking a title IX Investigator. This position is responsible for managing an assigned caseload of investigations of incidents of alleged discriminatory behavior on the basis of a classification protected by law, involving University students.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Deputy Title IX Coordinator with cases relevant to Title IX and other matters applicable under the Title IX and Non-Discrimination Policy. Is assigned cases for investigation.
- Assist with intake, analysis, and documentation of initial complaints of sexual misconduct and/or discrimination complaints. Determines applicability and routes to the appropriate policy and process.
- For assigned cases:
- Develop an investigation plan including timeline.
- Interview the complainant, respondent, and witnesses. Gather relevant evidence. Act as a neutral party through all aspects of investigation and ensures a prompt, fair and neutral process for all parties. Advise complainants and respondents of their rights. Maintain a high level of confidentiality during all proceedings.
- Ensure a well-documented investigative process, in accordance with the Title IX and Non-Discrimination Policy. Maintain accurate and thorough records and notes of investigatory process. Create comprehensive written investigative reports for the Decision Makers that clearly identify the issues investigated, summarize the evidence, correlate findings to University policy.
- Collaborate and consult with the Deputy Title IX Coordinator and Title IX Coordinator regularly to monitor and manage incidents pertaining to discrimination or misconduct on the basis of age, disability, national origin, race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, veteran status, or any other classification protected by applicable law.
- Provide periodic, timely updates regarding the status of complaints received and investigations in progress to the Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
- Collaborate with Deputy Title IX Coordinator and Title IX Coordinator to identify and address any systemic problems. Work with other university stakeholders to ensure Title IX and non-discrimination policies are communicated to all constituencies.
- Assist in maintaining requested statistics and data for reporting purposes, specifically use of Title IX database and management systems.
- Remain knowledgeable of current regulations and statutes relating to sex, gender-based violence including, but not limited to, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, VAWA, Campus Save Act, Clery Act and any new legislation on the subject.
- Assist in providing consultation and information regarding Title IX and VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) requirements to all involved parties.
- Assist in developing and providing education, training, and outreach relating to Title IX.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required.
- Experience conducting investigations and in complaint/grievance resolution required
- Preferred knowledge would include: Title IX and Violence Against Women (VAWA) regulations, knowledge of Higher Education, Student Conduct practices, FERPA, or other related experience.
- Must work occasional weekends, evenings or holidays as needed.
- Must pass a pre-employment background investigation.
