Position Summary

The UNM-Valencia Campus is seeking candidatesfor temporary, part-time faculty to teach 100-200 level Physical Educationnon-professional courses such as Zumba, Dance, Weight/Cross training, MindMeditation, Karate, and Running. This will be a continuous recruitmentstarting with the spring 2023 semester. The posting will remain open andapplicants will be selected as needed per semester.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia county, theUniversity of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of theUniversity of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the regionand is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis onteaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs,technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit HighSchool/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty andstaff serve a student body of approximately 1,700 students per semester.

Qualifications

MinimumQualifications:

  • Technical certification dependent on the instructional specialty (AFAA, ACE, NETA, NASM, etc.)
  • At least one year of teaching experience. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience.

PreferredQualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Physical Education or directly related field
  • First Aid and CPR Instructors Certificate
  • Experience and certification to teach online
  • Ademonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success,as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
