Position Summary

The Humanities Division at UNM-Valenciaanticipates hiring a Temporary Part-Time Faculty member to teach 1-2 Spanishcourses at the 1000-2000 college level in Fall 2023, Spring 2024, and/or Summer2024. Positions are contingent upon the need of eachsemester as determined by student enrollment levels and current courseofferings.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia county, theUniversity of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of theUniversity of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the regionand is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis onteaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs,technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit HighSchool/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty andstaff serve a student body of approximately 1,900 students per semester. UNMhas earned the platinum-level distinction from FamilyFriendlyNM.org for itsworkplace policies.

Qualifications

MinimumQualifications:

  • A Master's Degree in Spanish (or related field)
  • One-year Spanish teaching experience at the post-secondary level

PreferredQualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Spanish (or related field)
  • One-year Spanish teaching experience at a community college
  • One year teaching experience using Canvas
  • Excellence in teaching (documented via strong student or supervisor evaluations)
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
