Purpose of the job

As a Data Modeler Architect, you'll play a crucial role in supporting our Trading Partner Data Management team's strategy. This team handles data exchange through EDI and flat files with external partners. Your primary responsibilities will involve shaping our data strategy, optimizing processes for efficiency, and ensuring seamless data exchange. The Data Modeler Architect is responsible for strategic understanding and documenting Trading Partner related data sources.

  • The Data Modeler Architect is responsible for creation and maintenance of artifacts related to information architecture including Architectural Diagrams Data Flow Diagrams, and Conceptual, Logical and Physical Data and or Process Models.
  • Assists in near/mid-term roadmap creation, to address gaps and move towards future state data architecture to support growth, optimization and innovation.
  • Creates visual representations of the people, places and things of interest to a business. Facilitates communication between business people and technical people. Documents the data concepts / data blueprint that must be communicated and agreed upon.
  • Designs data interfaces between systems, and the infrastructure that will support common data operations. Creates a formal process for managing the flow of data and how it is processed for Trading Partner Extracts and EDI integration.

Required Work Experience

  • 3 years experience in modeling including Conceptual, Logical, and Physical data and process modeling (Level 1)
  • 2 years end to end experience evolving data and process models from initiation to physical implementation (Level 1)
  • 2 years experience in mapping data integration and data architecture (Level 1)
  • 5 years experience in modeling including Conceptual, Logical, and Physical data and process modeling (Level 2)
  • 3 years end to end experience evolving data and process models from initiation to physical implementation (Level 2)
  • 3 years experience in mapping data integration and data architecture (Level 2)

Required Education

  • Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field (All Levels)

Preferred Work Experience

  • 7 years of experience modeling data to conceptual, logical and physical models (Level 1= 4 years and 2= 7 years)
  • 5 years experience in healthcare industry data (e.g. EDI, HL7/FHIR, Health and Pharmacy Claims, Service, and Enrollment transactions). (Level 1 and 2)
  • 5 years experience in mapping data integration and data architecture (Level 1= 3 years and 2= 5 years
  • 4 years experience Master Data Management (Level 2)

Preferred Education

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related field (All Levels)

ESSENTIAL job functions AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Level 1 - Performs job functions with moderate supervision

  • Deliver architectural, logical and physical designs to implement effective data and integration solutions and models for creation and management of company information, processes and other knowledge assets.
  • Responsible for domain specific content/collateral, based on the EA standards/ methodologies, to document the current state and future state data architecture
  • Apply architectural and engineering concepts to design a solution that meets operational requirements, such as scalability, maintainability, security, reliability, extensibility, flexibility, availability, and manageability. This will include enterprise level cloud data architecture, data visualization concepts and advanced analytic concepts.
  • Prepare accurate database design and architecture reports for management teams.
  • Lead and facilitate communication between technical and business stakeholders for issues and/or major changes; acting as the technical domain subject matter expert.
  • Profile and analyze existing data for quality evaluations and suitability for ongoing operations or transformation and migration to new applications.
  • Identify data quality issues and propose solution(s) necessary to resolve the data anomaly and prevent future issues.
  • Lead physical documentation reviews with internal and external teams to ensure the deliverables reflect technical requirements
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Define and document best practices and frameworks for use across the data and analytics landscape.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure Data Factory data stack. Use Microsoft Azure Data Warehouse services and T-SQL to create database solutions that align with company needs and ensure seamless data access and flow across the organization.
  • Monitor system performance, identify problems, and implement necessary corrections and improvements.

Level 2 - Performs job functions in a lead capacity

  • Establish domain specific standards, near/mid-term strategy, and roadmaps (0-18 months), in adherence to, and in support of Enterprise standards, strategy and roadmaps.
  • Assist in creating the vision for future state technologies and architecture and participate in setting Enterprise standards and mid/long-term strategy/roadmaps (18-60 months), acting as domain specific subject matter experts
  • Develop technology specifications and ensure that new technology solutions are designed for optimal access and usefulness, and leverage existing technologies when possible.
  • Participate and lead research and development efforts (proofs of concept, prototypes), as subject matter experts, when introducing new technologies.
  • Recommend solutions to improve new and existing data and application systems.
  • Ensure proper management and stewardship of enterprise metadata, including collaboration with governance representatives and data stewards to define requirements for data quality monitoring and resolution/support.
  • Conduct logical documentation reviews with all stakeholders including: enterprise architects, data stewards, business analysts, product owners and business subject matter experts to ensure the deliverables reflect business requirements.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to team members in the areas of technical skills and competencies.
  • The position requires a full-time work schedule. Full-time is defined as working at least 40 hours per week, plus any overtime as requested or needed to perform job responsibilities.
