Job Summary CORRECTIONAL HEALTH:

This position is responsible for the coordination of the transfer of patients from, to and between Harris

County Sheriffs Office (HCSO) and Texas Department of Corrections (TDC) or other outside correctional facilities. Controls and communicates health care information to other correctional agencies to include pending/scheduled medical appointments, medications, diagnosis, special housing, chest x-ray results, TB test results, and treatments. Completes the Texas Uniform Status Update form on all patients transferring to a TDC facility prior to the patients discharge. Functions as a liaison between the HCSO, TDC facilities, and medical transport companies in regards to patient transfers/release from the HCSO. Maintains statistical data for area of assignment.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education/specialized training/licensure: High School Diploma or GED

Work experience: Three (3) years experience in a clerical role in health care facility. Experience in Correctional Healthcare- Preferred

Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact), Writing /Composing: Correspondence / Reports

Proficiencies: P.C., Typing wpm 30, MS Word
