Job Summary

Provides oversight for the trauma service at the facility to assure optimal care for injured patients while meeting regulatory requirement.

Responsible for daily operations of the trauma program and the achievement of standards related to quality care, patient satisfaction, and fiscally responsible care delivery. Coordinates the stroke program.

Manages and coordinates the stroke patients care during and post hospitalization.

Completes ongoing educational opportunities for all levels and departments interacting with the stroke population.

Collects and analyzes ongoing data regarding outcomes of the stroke program.

Submits required data to the Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies asrequested.

Performs and evaluations effectiveness of patient teaching.

Maintains clinical knowledge and skills for the stroke patient population.

Resource to the hospital for care of the stroke patient regardless of admitting diagnosis of the patient. Recognizes potential or actual risk to patients, visitors, staff or the organization and initiates action to correct, reduce or prevent the risk.

Recognizes strengths and limitations and asks for help when not able to perform effectively, safely or within scope of practice.

Treats patients, visitors, co-workers, physicians, auxilians and staff in other departments with dignity, courtesy and respect.

Works effectively as a team member, aiding other staff when own tasks are completed. Recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments and contributions of others.

Seeks feedback, accepts feedback, and shows efforts to apply it.

Demonstrates ability to adapt communication style and format to different audiences. Maintains up-to-date licensure and registrations, certifications and health records as applicable to position.Completes required annual mandatory training via computer-based and/or paper-training modules.Facilitates the development, implementation and ongoing adherence of sepsis program protocols and therapies.

Ensures the protocols and therapies become the standard of care followed within thefacility.

Collaborates with medical and hospital staff to provide multidisciplinary care to patients with adiagnosis of sepsis.

Rounds with physicians with diagnosis of sepsis, reviews clinical data.

Provides education and clinical expertise to care team, patients and families.

Collaborates with physicians and staff to decrease mortality and length of stay.

Identifies and integrates patient learning needs, abilities and readiness into the Plan of Care. Works in collaboration with the nursing team to develop and implement individualized the treatment plans for patients and families in regards of Sepsis diagnosis.Collects and analyzes sepsis program patient data to assist with documentation, clinical care and improved outcomes.

Participates in rounds and proactively responds to patient needs to improve patient outcomes and positively impact overall patient experience.Prepare the organization for the pathways to excellence program by reinforcing shared governanceand ensuring shared governance meeting are being conducted, conducting organizational wide shared governance meetings, improving quality outcomes by having the UBCs choose projects related to quality outcomes.

Develop and post quality dashboards on each nursing unit monthly.

Complete documentation of the evidence that shows compliance with the Pathway's to Excellence standards for the approximately 750-page application.

Prepare for and lead the Pathways to Excellence designation survey.

What You Bring/Job Requirements

Education Requirements

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

BSN degree required within 2 years of hire

Minimum Experience RequirementsFive years recent hospital-based nursing experience including one year of critical care or emergency dept experience.Proficient in computer skillsMembership to a related professional organization preferred (Society of Trauma Nurses, Emergency Nurses Association)

License/Certifications Requirements

Current state RN license for applicable state of employment

BLS through American Heart Association

TNCC upon hire or within 1 year of hire/transfer required

Completion of the American Trauma Society's Registrar Course or an equivalent course uponhire or within 12 months of hire/transfer, required

Physical RequirementsSedentary work - prolonged periods of sitting and exert up to 10 lbs. force occasionally
