We are looking for a full-time or part-time Bilingual Trauma Therapist based in our Tempe office for the Trauma Healing Services department. Responsibilities include providing individual counseling, group therapy, safety planning, and risk assessments for clients and families affected by sexual and domestic violence. Therapist will coordinate services with agency staff and other behavioral health, law enforcement and public agencies as requested by the client. Therapist will complete timely documentation, including diagnosis, assessment, treating planning, progress notes, and discharges. On call component required.

Candidate must demonstrate ability to remain calm in crisis situations, work independently and cooperatively, and recognize personal limitations. Candidate must possess the ability to represent agency in professional manner. Candidate should have prior experience, which demonstrates ability to understand the needs of the population and their families, empower victims to make positive choices, and relate positively to all persons regardless of age, race, creed, gender, or sexual orientation. Spanish language ability required.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Provides direct community based and in-home psychotherapy for the purpose of assessment, diagnosis and treatment with follow-up contact for sexual abuse & domestic violence victims in both individual and group settings. Clientele includes youth, adults and families. Identifies victims personal advocacy, provisions & assistance needs including appropriate in-house & community referrals. Makes mandatory reports to appropriate authorities regarding child or vulnerable adult abuse or neglect.
2. Coordinates communication w/other departments in the agency for continuity of care. Collaborates with hotline staff, trauma advocates & therapists, plus community agencies to provide crisis intervention & de- escalation/stabilization of high intensity trauma symptoms on scene, risk assessment for danger to self or others, transportation, victim support &/or supervision, psycho-education about trauma symptomology, parenting training, behavior management training & assistance.
3. Ensures quality service delivery including clinical care and all associated documentation and complies with the agencys standard of care for service delivery. Assists with Quality Management and Utilization Review as assigned by management. Maintains all client records in accordance with agency policies and procedures. This includes appropriate phone documentation, intake documentation, endangerment triaging, treatment planning, referral triaging, risk planning, termination documentation, interagency reports, follow-up documentation and all necessary data collection.
4. Provides and delivers assigned special projects during on-call shifts on weekly basis. Follows THS special projects procedures for overnight special project calls. Includes providing mobile crisis assessment, intervention services, and in home support services to clients throughout Maricopa and surrounding counties.
5. Provides instruction and training for interns, pool staff, and new staff as assigned by the Program Coordinator or Department Manager. Recommends to the Clinical Coordinator or Manager changes that would improve service delivery.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides and delivers at least 40 hours of work per week. May be required to work beyond the scheduled shift to complete required paperwork or to complete crisis stabilization tasks. Evening and night hours may be required. May be required to work beyond his/her shift with no advanced warning if the crisis situation warrants or if required paperwork is not complete at the end of the shift. May be required to use down time for special projects to benefit Crisis and/or other departments within the agency. This position receives a differential in pay, as a result, which is specific to this position only. If one wishes to accept a different position in the agency, the differential would not follow.
2. Participates in all regularly scheduled department meetings. Required to receive at least 4 hours of supervision per month from a coordinator in the department.
3. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with all related state, community behavioral health, and contracting organizations.
4. Participates in agency fund raising activities as requested by management.

Experience/Education

• Master's Degree in counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work, or directly related field is required.
• Spanish language ability is a requirement of this position.
• Must be certified by AZBBHE with associate licensure or able to obtain within 6 months.
• Need knowledge of effective therapeutic interventions in individual and group settings.
• Need comprehensive understanding of the effects of significant trauma and principles of Trauma-Informed Care.
• Need effective self-care within a potentially stressful client environment.
• Need understanding of community and agency resources with motivation to advocate for clients needs.
• Requires ability to communicate clearly and maintain timely clinical documentation.
• Familiarity with Maricopa County community resources is preferred.
• Demonstrated cultural competency through experience with diverse minority populations is preferred.
• Fingerprint clearance card or eligible to qualify to obtain one.
• Must be 21 years of age at time of employment.
