Job Description

LOCATION: Herberger Center – Phoenix 

STATUS: FT 40 hrs./wk. – Flex Schedule

The Salvation Army Phoenix Family Services is looking for a candidate who is able to represent Salvation Army within the veteran community and oversee our budding work with veteran’s services. A successful candidate must be polished, articulate, and passionate about helping veterans overcome obstacles. Salvation Army is looking to grow our impact on the veteran community, and we need the right candidate to take our services to the next level. This position will include both desk work, hands-on service, case management and community networking. Successful candidates will have military experience or deep understanding of veteran-related culture. This position is benefit eligible and comes with vacation, sick, health, vision, life insurance, free Kroc membership and more.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s in Social Work or a related field
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing case managed services. This includes individual/family needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of individual/family satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Experience working with veterans or military personnel.
  • Demonstrate the ability to relate positively and energetically with staff, clientele, and others including the public.
  • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • Ability to create unusual or clever ideas about a given topic or situation, or to develop creative ways to solve a problem.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Computer literate in MS Office products.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check
  • Must have a valid Arizona DL with a clean driving record. & pass The Salvation Army Fleet Safety eLearning.
  • Must have a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the position (occasional weekend or after 5pm).
