LOCATION: Herberger Center – Phoenix 

STATUS: FT 40 hrs./wk. – Flex Schedule

The Salvation Army Phoenix Family Services is looking for a candidate who is able to represent Salvation Army within the veteran community and oversee our budding work with veteran’s services. The Veteran’s Liaison position will represent The Salvation Army within the veteran community and oversee the creation of a veteran’s specific program aimed at increasing services to the veteran population. This position requires a passion for veterans with an ability to present as a polished, articulate, and determined organizational representative with a strong desire to help veterans overcome obstacles. Through this program The Salvation Army wants to significantly increase our footprint and impact on the veteran community. This position will include both desk work, hands-on service, case management and community networking, and continuation of the program will be based on success in the creation and implementation process.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s in Social Work or a related field required
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Veteran/Military service strongly preferred with an ability to demonstrate a deep understanding of veteran specific issues & culture.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing case managed services. This includes individual/family needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of individual/family satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • 2 years experience working with veterans or military personnel.
  • Demonstrate the ability to relate positively and energetically with staff, clientele, and others including the public.
  • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • Ability to create unusual or clever ideas about a given topic or situation, or to develop creative ways to solve a problem.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Computer literate in MS Office products.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check
  • Must have a valid Arizona DL with a clean driving record. & pass The Salvation Army Fleet Safety eLearning.
  • Must have a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the position (occasional weekend or after 5pm).

 The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
