Overall Job Objective

What Success Looks Like In This Job

Under general supervision, provides technical leadership and coordination for creation and production of media projects. Responsible for producing video and multimedia productions, as well as digital content for public relations, public information, or marketing purposes by acting as videographer, graphics creator, and editor.

Examples of Duties for Success

  • Serves as a member of the county's Communications Services team, assisting in developing strategies and communication plans for assigned departments and/or projects.
  • Serves as a video resource to internal staff in assigned department(s) to assist with their internal and external outreach and communication strategy needs as they relate to video.
  • Coordinates and participates in production of complex media projects.
  • Tapes and edits news stories and other promotional videos and public announcements.
  • Tapes, broadcasts, and archives all public hearings for the Board of Commissioners.
  • Produces a wide range of promotional and educational videos, which may require working evenings and on weekends.
  • Uses and maintains a wide variety of special equipment associated with video production including: computer editing systems, audio systems, switchers, cameras, and production equipment.
  • Performs a variety of tasks related to pre-production, production, and post-production of video projects, including pre- and post-production of graphics; maintenance of file footage logs; and additional duties as assigned.
  • Assists with use of lights, microphones, cameras, scripts, and music as related to video production.
  • Continuously improves systems to streamline video and audio production to provide high quality, cost effective products.
  • Trouble-shoots and problem-solves current equipment and system failures.
  • Maintains video asset database and video library.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of new video production technologies.
  • Creates and acquires new digital content in support of website and social media outreach.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications for Success

  • Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and goals of Adams County's Communication Services team.
  • Knowledge of materials and equipment used in video production, including digital video cameras, non-linear editing platforms, wireless microphones, video switchers, and mixers.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of video production, including camera operation, composition, field and studio lighting, sound recording, graphics and titles, editing, and all supporting software.
  • Skill in writing scripts and crafting multimedia presentations.
  • Experience planning, developing, and managing digital video content as part of an integrated online/social media communication strategy.
  • Ability to effectively discuss technology trends, constraints and features, and their application to government business processes and operations.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to coordinate schedules with multiple entities and individuals to set up production locations and times.
  • Ability to assist with special events and projects which may occur during evenings or on weekends.
  • Ability to manage a diverse set of project assignments simultaneously, completing each in a timely manner.
  • Ability to listen well and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with various audiences.
  • Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with Channel 8 producers and other video professionals in support of local and regional programming.
More Qualifications for Success

  • Experience:
    • Three (3) years of professional experience in video production or related field.
    • Experience with live television production, producing television documentaries, magazines, or news programs for use on a government access channel is preferred.
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Education and Training: Bachelor's degree in Video Production, Communications or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • License or Certificate: None.
  • Background Check: Must pass and criminal background check.
