Vocational Trainee-Northern AZ

Southwest Behavioral & Health Services is a large and growing, non-profit community-based provider of behavioral health services with locations throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area, rural Maricopa County, Gila, Pinal, Mohave, Coconino, and Yavapai Counties. We are a well-established voice in the community with more than 115 sites, over one thousand employees, and 40 years experience.

Vocational trainees must be referred by a case manager or counselor and be 21 years of age.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under supervision, the janitorial crew:

• Will learn to perform cleaning duties such as sweeping , mopping, vacuuming floors, taking out the trash, cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, windows, offices and outside areas
• Will learn to utilize cleaning supplies efficiently and effectively.
• May learn to use equipment to clean carpets.
• May learn to use equipment to wax floors
• Pay attention to detail; motivation to learn and to accept direction/supervision.
• Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor

Under supervision, the thrift store clerk:

• Will learn to perform duties such as pricing items, using cash register, using pricing equipment, hanging and placing items in the store, sorting, washing clothing and items.
• Will learn to assist customer in the store.
• Will learn to organize, clean and maintain the store in an orderly manner.
• May learn to use computer to assist with eBay sales.
• Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Under supervision, the receptionist:

• Distributes incoming mail and faxes.
• Completes labels as ordered/needed.
• Completes invoices for billing form orders and labels.
• Types miscellaneous forms, letters and other documents as needed.
• Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Under supervision, the driver:

• Will learn to perform driving duties.
• Will learn to assist clients in and out of the vehicles.
• Will learn to direct passengers to follow company policies.
• Well learn to keep vehicles clean.
• Will learn to maintain vehicle needs such as gas, vehicle inspections etc.
• Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Under supervision, the painter:

• Will learn proper painting methods.
• Will learn how to properly prepare an area before painting.
• Will learn to complete basic drywall repairs and patchwork.
• Will learn to paint efficiently with attention to detail.
• Will learn and practice safety in the work environment.
• Will learn proper clean up and maintenance of painting supplies.
• Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Under supervision, the RSS

• Will learn how to properly assist staff and provide skills training, peer to peer support, case management, group facilitation and co-leadership, and non-clinical interventions for consumers.
• Will learn how to provide hope and inspiration to adults with substance-abuse and other issues.
• Will learn how to assist consumers with the development of living skills, external support systems, and linkages with community resources.
• Will learn how to be responsible for contributing to and creating a recovery based environment.
