This is a volunteer position with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office. Volunteers serve at the discretion of their respective Appointing Authority. The employment relationship of incumbents in this position is "at will" the employee may be terminated at any time, for any reason, with or without cause. Example of Duties

Job Description:
Responsible for technical work of moderate difficulty in law enforcement or investigative duties; administers first aid; appears in court and/or hearings as a witness; arrests violators of laws; assists with crowd control; interviews and interrogates witnesses; maintains chain of evidence pertinent to criminal investigations; patrols assigned area for the prevention of crime, enforcement of laws and protection of life and property; assists in surveillance work; assists in the execution of various writs, subpoenas, and court orders; prepares reports; performs other work as assigned or required.

Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age,
  • a United Stated citizen.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • Must be AZ POST certified;

Selected candidate must successfully complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. All candidates must pass a polygraph, physical examination, psychological examination, background investigation, and oral board examination.

Supplemental Information

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is very heavy work and requires exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The work also requires the ability to balance, crawl, climb, crouch, finger, feel, handle, grasp, perform repetitive motion, kneel lift, pull push, hear, speak, stoop, stand, walk, operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment, and demonstrate mental and visual acuity.
Minimum commitment required: 16 hours per month.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an environment with crisis situations that require making major decisions involving people, resources, and property.
This position may reasonably be expected to come into contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials in the performance of the work duties and is therefore subject to the vaccination and training provisions presented in the County Blood Borne Pathogen Exposure Control plan.
