DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Wastewater Plant Operator II is responsible for the operation, routine maintenance, servicing and care of a
variety of plant equipment. Duties include making inspections to assure proper treatment, assist with repair,
maintenance and general overhaul of machinery, and perform labor and custodial functions in cleaning of plant
equipment and premises. The Wastewater Plant Operator II will also perform laboratory tests and adjustments of
the process to maintain compliance and efficient operation at the Wastewater Treatment facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
o Operate, maintain, monitor and control all wastewater plant process equipment, including pumps, motors,
aerators, blowers, chlorinators, chemical feeds, sludge equipment and basic laboratory instruments to ensure
treated water meets State and EPA quality standards.
0 Obtain water samples and perform laboratory tests on turbidity, solids, odor, alkalinity, chloride, calcium, ph,
hardness, conductivity, and other related tests.
0 Operate, monitor, and control operational conditions utilizing the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
(SCADA) system at various facilities.
0 Inspect, repair and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment; report deficiencies in the operational
process:0 Maintain accurate records of wastewater and maintenance at various sites/facilities.
0 Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to safety practices as mandated and set for the by OSHA.
0 Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

- Working knowledge of the functions and servicing requirements of water/wastewater plant machinery and
equipment, and 0f the processes involved in the treatment and disposal of water/wastewater.

- Mechanical aptitude in the use of hand tools.
0 Knowledge of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system.
0 Ability to perform standardized water quality tests.Ability to operate respirators.Ability to perform basic math calculations.Ability to inspect machinery and mechanical equipment in operation to detect ?aws and defects in operation.
Ability to read meters and charts accurately and to maintain records of shift operations.Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Ability to work independently.Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community officials,
and the general public.

High School diploma or GED and a minimum of three (3) years responsible experience in the operation and
maintenance of a water/wastewater treatment system and facilities.ADDITIONAL RE! QUIREMENTS:Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Department of Environmental Quality or Inter Tribal Council of
Arizona Grade II certification in Wastewater Treatment upon hire.Must obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Department of Environmental Quality or Inter Tribal Council of
Arizona Grade I certification in Wastewater Collection within one (1) year of hire.Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission
of the application.Non-Supervisory, Hourly Position
