The Town of Marana is seeking a Water Operator I to work in the Water Department. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in joining a team-oriented atmosphere in the water production field. The position will include operation and maintenance of the public water production system including system troubleshooting and repairs.

Expected Hiring Range: $20.65/hr. - $25.30/hr.
Salary Range: $20.65/hr. - $29.94/hr.
- Placement within the salary range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity, and/or budget.
- Inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, maintains and adjusts wellhead units, storage reservoirs and other water facilities, machinery and equipment including production pumps, electrical panels, chlorine units and instrumentation.
- Inspects and provides maintenance of electric motors, equipment ventilation, motor controls, valves and generators.
- Monitor disinfection systems and maintain and repair equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance checks and servicing on water system equipment; packs, lubricates, cleans and paints pumping equipment and motors.
- Coordinate emergency repair of systems as needed.
- Performs various skilled and semi-skilled plumbing and electrical duties as required.
- Fabricates parts and equipment including mounts, brackets and shields; operates welding and cutting equipment.
- Maintains an inventory of supplies, parts and equipment used in water service maintenance.
- High school diploma or GED equivalency plus six months of additional education or training
- Over six months of experience in the operation and maintenance of water.
- Must obtain ADEQ Grade 1 Water Distribution System Operator Certification within 12 months of hire date. (Training will be provided)
- Must have a valid Arizona Driver License
- Ability to pass both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical which includes a 50-pound lift test and respirator questionnaire
