Position Description
The City of Tolleson is seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Water Operator l (M&O Utilities Technician). A Water Operator l installs, maintains, inspects, removes, tests, diagnoses, repairs, and calibrates water lines, service lines, valves, hydrants, meters, valves, screens, and related items. Records data; Conducts field inspections. Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs; Collects and tests water samples. Conducts routine lab testing. Records data; Completes logs and work orders; Locates utilities; Repairs and reads water meters, and performs related work as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent GED; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Class A, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tankers endorsement required. Possess a Valid Grade 1, Arizona Water Operator Certification, or ability to obtain within one (1) years from date of hire.
Additional Requirements:
- Driving a Semi-Tractor or Vactor Truck, with automatic and/or manual transmission, and end dump and/or side dump trailer, within the last 7 years or any combination to perform the essential duties of the job. Operating heavy equipment (Dump Truck, Fork Lifts, Front End Loader, Back Hoe).
- May require working rotating on-call duties, weekends, evenings, nights, Holidays, overtime and emergency call-outs.

Physical Demands
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Heavy: Exerting 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10-20 lbs. constantly.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, blood and other bodily fluids, and extreme temperatures.
Job Information
