DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Welder performs maintenance tasks in the course of primarily being responsible for rehabilitation of canals,
laterals, drains and/or water control structures throughout the Gila River Indian Community. This position will
prefabricate and install steel gates for check structures and field turnouts including all appurtenances. The
incumbent will assist the Gila River Indian Irrigation & Drainage District Operation and Maintenance crew in the
completion of GRIIDD construction projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
o Weld, repair and fabricate equipment required for maintenance and rehabilitation of canals laterals, drains,
and water control structures.Safely operate and maintain a portable or stationary resistance welding machine.Determine welding techniques and machine settings applicable to job being performed.Maintain inventory of parts and supplies on-hand and recommend purchase of new parts and supplies.
Assist in completing construction projects such as securing fending at well sites and may assist mechanic with
welding repairs to equipment.
0 Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

- Knowledge of processes in setting up and operating various resistance welding machines.

- Skill in operating and repairing welding equipment.
0 Skill in the operation and proper care of tools, materials, and equipment used in the course of work being
performed.Ability to read and understand technical plans and data related to construction projectsAbility make independent decisions of methods and techniques to use.Ability to perform physical tasks under various weather conditions.Ability to maintain simple records.Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

0 Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED and two (2) years experience in fabrication and welding using MIG, TIG, SMAW,
oxygen/acetylene, or brazing processes.ADDITIONAL REQ QUIREMENTS:Welding certificate from an accredited technical school or ability to acquire a welding certificate within one (1)
year of employment.Required to obtain a Tribal Operator7s permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving record
for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record must be
submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission of the
application.Non-Supervisory, Hourly Position
