Executive Director Of Assisted Living


Responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and coordinating of the community to ensure quality care for residents; be knowledgeable of and implement federal, state and local laws and regulations applicable to the community and residents, personnel, and physical environment.

The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Continuing Education:In accordance with state and federal laws.


Education: As required by state and federal law, a Bachelor of Science is preferred; work experience could fulfill requirements.


Experience: Three years experience Assisted Living and/or Skilled Nursing.


Job Knowledge: Leadership, communication, assisted living regulations, and standards, budgeting, personnel and business administration, public and community relations, relations with other health-care providers, ability to handle crisis situations and make judgments and decisions.


Professional Memberships: Preferred and encouraged to participate in outside community civic organizations and associations.


Other:Enjoy working with people including staff, residents, families, be friendly, creative, honest, handle stress, sympathetic, and accept responsibility.


FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Select personnel to supervise activities of departments and consult with them regarding problems; hire, discipline, and assist with termination of department employees; schedule department personnel; ascertain quality of performance, wage adjustments, and inter-departmental relationships.

  • Prepare and submit required reports.

  • Represent community with government and private agencies.

  • Observe activities in each department and on each shift.

  • Accompany surveyors and consultants on community inspections; arrange exit conferences which include department heads; review deficiencies and submit plan of correction to appropriate government agency upon receipt of report of deficiencies..

  • Supervise department heads, including office staff; with department heads and make rounds.

  • Evaluate performance of employees with department heads and supervisors and discuss evaluation with respective employees.

  • Instruct community staff to furnish information regarding residents to authorized agencies or individuals, and maintain confidentiality.

  • Responsible for petty cash account, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and residents funds.

  • Provide security for physical management records, personnel records, and current closed resident records.

  • Work with department heads and supervisors to provide staff meetings, in-service training, orientation programs, employee evaluations, and supervision.

  • Maintain personal contact with residents, their families, or guardian.

  • Ensure adequate food, nursing, and housekeeping supplies and equipment are available, properly stored, and in working order.

  • Be an active member of committees, where applicable, and set meeting dates and ascertain that copies of minutes and reports of meetings are maintained and sent to proper officials.

  • Ensure volunteer program is planned and supervised by a designated employee.

  • Operate, manage, and maintain community in accordance with established police and procedures of the governing body.

  • Act as a liaison with the governing body and professional and supervisory staff through meetings and reports.

  • Prepare and forward to authorities reports as requited by federal, state and local agencies and management.

  • Notify state agencies of any changes.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must maintain valid, unrestricted Colorado drivers license.

  • Sitting, bending, stooping

  • Standing for long periods of time

  • Lifting 20# or less

  • Repetition of computer and keyboard

  • Walking up steps, hallways on carpet, concrete, asphalt, linoleum, etc.

  • Use of small appliances and office equipment


WORK AREA AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Administrative and department offices, resident suites and areas, the entire building and grounds, the outside community, agency offices and other health care providers, educational institutions, and travel to meetings and seminars.
