The Salvation Army Prescott Corps is looking to fill a Winter Shelter Lead Supervisor position. The successful candidate for this position will have general knowledge of community resources, the ability to supervise and work with assigned volunteers or staff and be able to follow directions.

The Winter Shelter Lead Supervisor will supervise volunteers communicating rules, roles and evening format. This person will facilitate and coordinate the intake process assuring all guests have completed and understand appropriate paperwork including registration form and rules. The Shelter Team Member will oversee the serving of dinner, smoke breaks and distribution of mattresses and bedding. This person may refer guests to Salvation Army Social Services Daytime staff. This person will have the added responsibility of assisting in determining policies and procedures throughout the season as they relate to the Warming Shelter.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum two years’ experience working with the homeless or in a shelter environment preferred.
  • Valid Arizona Driver License and be able to satisfactorily complete The Salvation Army Fleet Safety program.
  • General knowledge of community resources.
  • Valid food handler’s certificate (or ability to get one within 30 days of hiring).
  • Recent TB testing (within the last year) with negative results.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to supervise and work with assigned volunteers or staff.
  • Employment contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Must complete Protect the Mission training if hired.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
