Term of Employment: 12 months, Full-Time/With Benefits

                   Position requires some evening and weekend shifts

Salary Range:            $28.00 - $33.00 Per Hour


Summary:

The Work Based Learning (WBL) Specialist - Internship Program works under the direction of the Engagement & Placement Coordinator for the Internship Program. The WBL Specialist - Internship Program works in person with students, staff, and community partners to provide communication and support throughout the internship program cycle. This includes planning and preparation of the internship program, establishing goals for student and worksite participation, establishing partnerships with host worksites and community organizations, and providing training for teachers, students, and worksite mentors. This position would also oversee pre-screening, selection, and placement of students on a host worksite; followed by monitoring and supporting students and worksites during the internship work time. The internship monitor must adhere to Pima County JTED policies and procedures as well as the prescribed dress code while at work.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicates with businesses and community partners
  • Establishes partnerships with current and prospective worksites to host internships
  • Establishes agreements with local organizations to fund student salaries
  • Develops training and marketing materials for the internship program to be used with teachers, students, and community partners
  • Attends meetings and workshops as needed to distribute information about the internship program
  • Conducts business site vetting for all participating worksite hosts according to JTED policies
  • Develops worksite interview and selection event
  • Maintains documentation of all interactions with stakeholders
  • Maintains calendar, schedules meetings, and appointments, and arranges travel accommodations as needed
  • Develops and presents: Student and family orientation, AND worksite mentor orientation for the internship program
  • Manages attendance, and gradebook for students.
  • Conducts physical site visits and checks in with student and worksite supervisor according to the Internship Program Guidelines
  • Complies with all internship worksite policies, procedures, and dress codes while conducting physical site visits
  • Communicates with District personnel, parents, students, and business partners.
  • Assists with the supervision of students enrolled in the Internship Program
  • Monitors students and assists with questions regarding the Internship Program Experience
  • Prepares and completes documentation of internship monitoring according to the Internship Program Guidelines
  • Prepare an annual report of internship data
  • May assist in other internship program areas as needed
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications/Education and/or Experience:

  • Must hold or are able to obtain a valid AZ Teaching Certificate in one of the following areas:
  • Industrial and Emerging Technologies
  • Family and Consumer Sciences
  • Health Careers
  • Business and Marketing
  • Arizona Department of Education Cooperative Education Endorsement preferred 


Additional Requirements

  • Valid AZ driver’s license
  • Current AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP)
  • Proof of immunity to rubella (measles), or MMR immunization verification is required unless born prior to January 1, 1957
  • Negative TB test within the last year
  • Will be required to travel to internship sites.
  • May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • May be required to work outside normal working hours


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of office concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Capability to be highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Knowledge of Career and Technical Education.
