Workers Compensation Claims Assistant

This is a remote position.

The Workers Compensation Claims Coordinator reports to the Sr Workers Compensation Coordinator and partners with Field Operations to serve as a resource for medical only & non-complex workers compensation claims. The position will work closely with the insurance adjusters, third-party claims administrator (TPA) and coordinate with business units to improve claims resolution and reduce claims cost. Workers Compensation Claims coordinator will drive cost capture on medical-only claims.

Essential Duties:

• Consult with Product Groups to triage first reports of injury
• Communicate with Product Groups, insurance adjusters/TPA, medical staff and associates to ensure effective WC treatment options
• Implementing the RTW process by communicating with associates, managers and accommodating work restrictions
• Working with insurance adjusters/TPA in reviews of WC Claims exposures and reserve needs
• Utilize RMIS/Process MAP to produce WC claims metrics
• Assist Regional Safety Managers/Supervisors with their daily WC Claims activities and develop daily activities/reports for their use
• Assist with other insurance and risk management matters as directed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Effective written and oral communication, interpersonal and listening skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products with knowledge of RMIS systems
• Excellent negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
• Strong self-starting work ethic and willingness to roll up sleeves to perform hands-on duties in a team environment
• Ability to prepare and organize documents and presentations
• Requires sitting for extended periods of time
• Demonstrate a hands-on, positive collaborative approach and work well in a team
• Be action-oriented and driven for results
• Ask questions that will get at the root cause of problems
• Have strong planning and organizing skills
• Able to deal with ambiguity and facilitate change
• Demonstrate leadership abilities in commercial claim adjusting and management

Education & Experience Requirements:

• 3-5 years prior Workers Compensation or Return-to-Work experience, licensing preferred
• Working knowledge of technical workers compensation and case law including monopolistic states, and non-subscriber associate work injury plan

Target salary range: Up to 45k base salary
