Would you like to join an amazing team making a difference in your community? Arizona Childrens Association is currently seeking Youth Advocate to join the team in our Central Phoenix location. As a Youth Advocate you will have the opportunity to take part in promoting a child/youths readiness for permanency in order to reduce the length of time in care. You will be working with youth to address separation, loss and grief issues, formulate a more positive self-identity, and establish trust and security in order to prepare the youth for building and maintaining connections that result in permanence and well-being.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist in developing the work plan at the first CARE meeting and maintains following the work plan through the course of services to the youth;
  • Administer the readiness assessment to youth and utilizes the information to guide decisions on future interventions;
  • Participates in team meetings, case plan staffings, court hearings, foster care review board meetings and family finding meetings;
  • Communicates and coordinates with members of the CARE team and other related providers regarding the youths needs and status and advocates for the maintenance of supportive connections;
  • Implements the 3-5-7 model of practice to address youths separation and loss issues in order to promote the youths readiness for permanency;
  • Complies with the Guiding Principles when delivering services to youth and families;
  • Respects the youth by providing a safe place and time for expression of feelings, explains the purpose of meetings and activities and demonstrates active listening and being present;
  • Engages youth in activities that explore their lives and let them tell their story such through the use of life books, lifelines and connectedness maps, while always respecting the youths thoughts and feelings;
  • Provides transportation for youth to activities associated with the program;
  • Completes contact logs and case notes documenting contact with youth, potential placements, and other team members and enters monthly logs into CHILDS;
  • Assists with monthly reports, maintaining case files on each client and the collection and record of data for outcome reports;
  • Performs other duties as assigned, which are consistent with the general responsibilities of the position.

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years related experience in the child welfare or behavioral health field OR
  • Master's degree and less than 2 years of related experience
  • Relevant Degree includes the following degrees: Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling and Child Development. Other degrees may be considered with at least 20 Credit hours from an accredited university in the previously referenced degree specialty.

Minimum Qualification & Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age (licensing requirement).
  • Possess a valid Arizona drivers license and be insurable under the agencys automobile policy.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation to and from clients homes and/or other relevant organizations/agencies
  • Must be able to provide DPS fingerprint clearance.
  • Must be able to meet training and agency compliance requirements for the position. An individual may qualify for this position if the individual is able to perform safely the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
