Position Summary:

The Youth Development Program Director of Before and After School and Day Camp will provide support to the Youth Development Team in assisting with day-to-day operations, while also supervising a team of licensed Before and After School staff and Day Camp Staff. Supervision in these departments will include weekly observation check-ins and monthly payroll approvals. Although this position requires oversight of three before and after school and day camp sites, this position reports daily at the Fairfield Family YMCA location. Due to high demand with before and after school and day camp, the Program Director will work closely with the Associate Executive Director to expand with more sites. While at the branch, the Youth Development Director is the on-call to substitute for any absent Before and After School staff and day camp staff if needed. During school break, this position will support in Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer Camp administration/programming. Additionally, the Youth Development Director will work closely with the Associate Executive Director to manage, implement and grow the Youth and Government program a model legislature and court program for high school students.

This position works directly with the Associate Executive Director to plan, communicate, and execute program activities, budget development, monitoring and provide administrative support. Administrative duties include screening volunteer applications, assisting with registrations, review and process registration forms, help schedule appointments with parents/guardians for additional document review, billing, and programming assistance. The Youth Development Director is responsible for ensuring quality Enrichment, and supporting the YD Team in providing quality and safe programs, including knowledge and experience with Title 22 Licensing and ACA accreditation requirement. In addition, this position is responsible for creating a warm, welcoming, and fun atmosphere for participants while helping to facilitate a sense of community and engagement among program participants. This position will communicate directly with staff, parents, members, future members, principals, teachers, school staff, before and after school and camp participants.

Specific Duties:

  • Supervise 4 full-time staff and over 10 part-time staff.
  • Manage and before and after school and camp budget.
  • Manage Branch programs, cash management and receipting procedures, enrollments and registrations, receivables, 3rd party agency paperwork, and payments. Monitor program usage, check-in and service procedures, cancellations and changes. Ensure the accurate processing and management of program software systems including DAXKO and others.
  • Supervise, manage, and assist with the before and after school and day camp program expansion.
  • Track program usage, inquiries, tours, terminations, etc.; prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports and schedules; collect and distribute program evaluations; conduct quality checks and satisfaction surveys.
  • Assist with member relations and involvement, member services inquiries, complaints and concerns. Responsible for new program sign-ups, and program needs. Process financial assistance requests. Assist with the hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of staff. Attend regular staff meetings and assist as needed. Ensure program requirements and quality are enforced.
  • Assist with promoting program awareness through publications, marketing materials and member promotion programs. Participate in community/facility events.
  • Provide staff leadership for branch special events.
  • Follow and enforce safety standards, policies and procedures. Ensure proper care and use of assets.
  • Attend all staff meetings, trainings and other YMCA functions as required by supervisor.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, teachers, school staff, Principals and supervisor.
  • Lead staff in Annual Campaign division, special events, association wide events and fundraising activities.
  • Development, promotion, management, evaluation and growth of all assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Meet the Youth Driver requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • CPR, First Aid and AED certification required.
  • 2 years experience in related field required.
  • Experience in program leadership and staff supervision preferred.
  • Experience in sales/marketing, membership retention, program leadership and staff supervision preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments, organizational skills, basic PC and typing skills required.
  • Additional Requirements: Criminal Clearance: Including Fingerprints and background clearance Health Screening with Negative TB Test and Negative Drug test screening.
  • Complete all required online training(s).
  • 12 college units completed in Childhood Education/Child Development units and/or related courses required, including six units in core courses of Child Human Growth and Development and Child, Family & Community or Child & Family Relations.
  • 3 units in Supervision/Administration of a Child Development Program also required.
  • Health & Safety Class required within first 3 months of employment.
  • Immunization record: Influenza or waiver, Tdap(Pertussis), and MMR(Measles)
  • CDSS Manded Reported (AB1207) training required within the first month of employment.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations.

Working Conditions:

Environmental Factors: Indoor and outdoor facilities (e.g. fitness and recreational sites); exposure to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on slippery or uneven surfaces. Noise level is usually moderate.
