DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The Youth Development Specialist II is responsible for providing a therapeutic environment and
maintaining a home-like atmosphere and providing daily care, training, supervision and discipline
of children through 17 years of age residing in the Residential Program for Youth; conducts house
meetings, implements treatment plans and provides care and supervision for the residents; required
to work day, evening, and/or weekend assignments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintain and review all appropriate paperwork as speci?ed in program policies and
procedures, including documents of incidents, contact sheet, and medication log.Maintain program structure by following program rules and procedures; assist with
implementation of target behaviors and point/level system.Provide continuous verbal and emotional support to residents; responsible for dealing with
personal needs of each resident in a profes 'onal and timely manner.Intervene to help children deal with anti-social or acting-out behavior; help find appropriate
alternatives in solving problems; take advantage of 'teaching moments' to train and educate
children in social, work and life skills.Engage and support residential youth in completing homework, creating positive peer
relationshi and building a sense of ownership and responsibility in their behavior.Support residential youth in daily maintenance/cleaning of their rooms and common areas and
maintain a healthy environment condition in the home and assist children in good habits on
personal hygiene.Work with Clinical Team to ensure treatment plans are current and appropriate for the needs
of the facility's residential youth.Supervise, coordinate and participate in planning organized activities including recreation,
educational and community activities; drive residents to and from activities in Tribal vehicles.
Schedule and facilitate house meetings as necessary.Participate in in-service training and other educational training events as requested.Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:Knowledge of residential treatment programs.Knowledge of chemical dependency and other issues affecting Native American Youth.
Knowledge of Native American cultures.Be of good moral character and have good physical and emotional health.Ability to withstand physical and emotional stress of carrying on responsibilities for a group
of active children.Ability to learn, be non-judgmental and work well with others in a team environment.Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Ability to work independently.Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees,
Community Officials and the general public.Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free
workplace.RE! ZUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:Ass iates degree from an accredited college or university in Social Science, Social Services,
Child and Family Studies or closely related field and a minimum of two (2) years experience
working with children and/or adolescents in an educational or behavioral health related area
preferably in a residential setting or therapeutic program; OrHigh school diploma with six (6) years of experience working with children and/or adolescents
in an educational or behavioral health related area, preferably in a residential setting or
therapeutic program.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Required to have a certificate of completion in Residential Child & Youth Care Training and
a certi?cate of completion in Managing Aggressive Behavior (or equivalents) at the time of
hire or within the fi 't six (6) month of employment from the date of hire.Required to a pass background check and fingerprint clearance as a condition of employment
and must continue to maintain throughout duration of employment. Background checks are
required for positions that involve regular contact with or control over Community Children in
accordance with The Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, 25 US. C.
Sections 3201 through 3210 and C.F.R. Part 63 and positions that have regular contact with
the Elderly.Maintain current CPR & First Aid Certification or obtain within ninety (90) days of hire.Be of mature age in relationship to the children under care.Must be available for day, evening, and/or weekend ,signments.Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current
proof of driving record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal drivingpermit. Proof of driving record must be submitted with application and must not be
more than 60 days old from the date of submission of the application.

- Required to attend Title 7 Mandatory Reporting training on a yearly basis.Non-Supervisory, Hourly Position
