How this role supports our mission:

The Youth Employment and Training Coordinator provides direct support, coaching, and guidance to youth participating in Goodwills Opportunity Accelerator Program; provides administrative assistance to the Youth Employment Manager; conducts employer outreach; and coordinates training and work experience opportunities associated with Goodwills Opportunity Accelerator Program. THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION - 6 MONTHS

Special requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in social work or career-related counseling preferred.
  • Minimum of 1year experience in career-related coaching/support role required.
  • Extensive knowledge of the labor market in Tucson, AZ required.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background and fingerprint check; must maintain background and fingerprint check clearance.

Provide direct coaching, counseling, and supervision to youth as they develop and refine work readiness skills (on site and off site)

Maintain frequent and regular communication with the Youth Employment Manager, providing regular program operation updates and progress towards grant goals. Immediately inform the Youth Employment Manager of unusual and/or crisis situations as they arise.

Meet one-on-one with each participant to develop individual service plans detailing short-term and long-term career goals; support participants with identifying industries/career pathways of interest; work with participants to develop a step-by-step action plan to achieve goals; and track educational/training interventions and outcomes

Support participants with understanding the results of their academic assessments/interest tests and provide the participant with realistic and reliable information about Tucsons demand occupations, labor market trends, wage rates, and opportunities for career growth

Identify, cultivate, and secure employer partnerships based on the industries/sectors identified on each participants service plan. Place participants in work experiences/employment in labor markets related to their goals, and develop and implement a coaching strategy to assist youth transitioning into placements.

Support participants in their placements by working with them to resolve performance issues (up to and including termination), and achieve their goals

Develop and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships with other Goodwill and County youth program staff, and other community members who can assist participants in achieving long-term career success

Collect all required documentation in a timely fashion and track participant data and outcomes in the specified database for this grant

Meet all grant deadlines regarding participant recruitment and monthly participant data reporting

Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona, Inc. and persons receiving services.

Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision.

Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and environments.

Ability to read, write, and speak English; follow written and verbal instruction.

Possess current AZ drivers license, and personal transportation with proof of auto insurance.
