CLASS SUMMARY: Incumbents are responsible for the procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies for the District.
|

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The Buyer is a stand alone classification. The Buyer is distinguished from other classifications by its responsibility for procuring materials, equipment and supplies for the District.

Orders materials, supplies, and equipment for the District. |

Contacts vendors to determine order status, acquire information on current products and pricing, and to select appropriate materials, supplies, and/or equipment. |

Assists employees, administrators, and vendors with questions and/or concerns. |

Knowledge (position requirements at entry): Knowledge of: · Procurement procedures and rules; · Basic accounting and mathematics; · General office procedures; · Customer service principles; · Recordkeeping practices and procedures; · Modern office equipment; · Bookkeeping principles; · Applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations; · Basic inventory principles.

Training and Experience (position requirements at entry): High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.), and two years of related buyer experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Licensing Requirements (position requirements at entry): None Required.

Physical Requirements: Positions in this class typically require: fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
