The Baker/Cook will prepare and serve nutritious, cost-effective and high quality meals/baked items to students and staff in a clean environment. The Baker/Cook will support the National School Breakfast Program (SBP), National School Lunch Program (NSLP), catered events, and the AFUHSD Food Service Program

Perform all duties of food service worker/baker/cook/cashier in a competent and efficient manner

Attend additional training workshops as available
-
Prepare a wide variety of hot dishes for students and faculty with attractive presentations.

Adjust recipes as required

Prepare baked goods
-
Maintain an accurate inventory
-
Assist manager in all catering events
-
Knowledge and understanding of the National School Lunch Program, standardized recipes, production sheets and maintain portion control

Comply with all Governing Board Policies and Regulations, Maricopa County Health Codes, National School Lunch Program guidelines, and Agua Fria Union High School District Food Service Policies

Comply with School Safety Manual Rules and Regulations and OSHA requirements

Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues

Provide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and community

Perform responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner

Maintain punctual and regular attendance
-
Perform other related duties as assigned

Must possess excellent customer service skills
-
Must possess two years of experience assisting in a commercial cooking or baking operation
-
Must have knowledge of cooking practices, methods, and food service equipment
-
Must be 21 years of age or older upon hire
-
Must be able to lift and carry materials and packages weighing up to 30 pounds
-
Stand and or walk for long periods of time
-
Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls
-
Must be able to bend or twist their body
-
Must be able to push, pull or otherwise move boxes and materials
-
Able to perform multiple tasks and prioritize functions to meet constantly changing job conditions

Must comply with Safety Rules and Regulations and OSHA requirements

May be subject to odors, dust, poor ventilation, heat, workspace restrictions and loud noises

Education / Certificate 1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred 2. Must have or be able to obtain within thirty days of employment start date a County Certification for food handler (renewed every 3 years) 3. Must have and maintain a valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card Experience Communication Skills 1. Must have the ability to read and write instructions, standardized recipes, and production sheets 2. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with administration, staff, parents, and students Computer Skills 1.
