    STARTING HOURLY RATE: $16.13 - $16.87 (PLACEMENT DEPENDS ON SIMILAR EXPERIENCE HELD AND EDUCATION)

    SUMMARY:

    The Security Assistant, Senior maintains a safe learning and working environment for all students and staff on school campuses by monitoring activities and addressing safety concerns. Protects and secures all District property at the campus level. Directs security staff in the absence of Campus Safety Supervisor.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Enforces all campus and District rules and regulations. Works closely with the Campus Safety Supervisor (CSS) to support site schedules for overtime, drills, and schedule adjustments for absences. Appropriately assists the dispatch/base unit, as well as the CSS, for appropriate response to calls, emails, teacher requests, student removal for referrals, student statements, and peer mediation. Communicates and works with all departments on campus.
    2. Coordinates fire and safety inspections of buildings; tests safety equipment and identifies hazards.
    3. Patrols campus buildings and grounds to ensure that only students with valid ID's or authorized persons are on campus and students do not leave campus grounds without authorization.
    4. Builds positive relationships with students and staff; supports a positive campus climate.
    5. Escorts disruptive students from classroom to Administration office; supervises students awaiting discipline.
    6. Diffuses physical and verbal altercations; investigates and reports student incidents and misconduct.
    7. Informs Dispatch/Base, Campus Safety Supervisor or Security Assistant of campus activities.
    8. Participates in mandatory District/local in-service training programs.
    9. Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:

    High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND three years of experience in security or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must be at least 21 years of age.

    License and Certification Requirements:

    CPR and First Aid Certifications is required.
    A valid Arizona State Drivers License is required.
