Job Description

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The Accounts Technician is responsible for providing general clerical, accounting and bookkeeping support

functions toward achieving the financial goals of the department/program assigned to.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 Provide customer services internally and externally (in-person, phone, fax, and other electronic

communications).

 Responsible for timely processing of invoices, purchase requisitions and purchase orders.

 Responsible for the timely processing of accounts receivable for customers of an assigned department or

timely processing of payments to outside vendors based on assignment of position.

 Reconcile the accounts and maintain records for the department/program assigned to.

 Follow up on slow or non-paying accounts receivable. (GRIIDD only)

 Conduct research on accounts as necessary toward ensuring accuracy of records.

 Perform filing and other general administrative tasks.

 Assist the department by compiling records necessary toward the preparation of financial records and other

financial reports on a routine or as-needed basis.

 Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

 General knowledge of office procedures and practices.

 General knowledge of automated accounting systems and operations of various office machines and be

proficient in use of applicable software such as Excel, spreadsheets, Access and Word documents.

 Must have good writing and bookkeeping skills.

 Ability to handle confidential financial information with tact and discretion.
