DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Agriculture Manager is responsible for managing Agriculture Project operations to ensure district members
receive adequate assistance in the operation of their gardens and farmed lands and is responsible for keeping the
District Agriculture Committee informed of Project operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Schedule equipment use to perform custom work (tillage, planting and harvesting) for district members who
elect to participate in the Agriculture Project with their gardens, pasture, and farmed lands.Assist in promoting Tribal Agriculture programs Within the district and from time to time may perform tillage
work for local schools.Supervise staff assigned to the Agriculture Project and may provide training for staff in farm equipment
operation, tillage of lands, and maintenance of equipment as needed.Assist district members in the promotion and marketing of their agriculture production (grains, hay,
vegetables, and livestock).Responsible for keeping the Agriculture Committee informed on operations of the Agriculture Project and
provide monthly written and oral reports on progress, problems, and other projects/programs relating to the
Project that would bene?t district members.Responsible for working with Tribal, State and Federal on-the-job training programs for the staff of the
Agriculture Project.Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:Considerable knowledge of agriculture economic and marketing procedures.
Knowledge and/or familiar with Tribal and BIA Realty procedures for land leasing.
Knowledge of the Gila River Indian Community.Ability to effectively plan, supervise and coordinate work of others.Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.Ability to demonstrate competency in ?nancial and program planning.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:


- Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Agriculture, Business, Economics or a closely
related ?eld and a minimum of ?ve (5) years experience in farm management and which included a minimum
of one (1) year supervisory experience; Or0 High School diploma or GED and seven (7) years experience working in an Ag related ?eld which include
farm management; and which includes one (1) year supervisory experience.
0 Bachelor degree preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:


- Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission of the
