Summary

Samaritan’s Purse is responding to meet the physical and spiritual needs of those effected by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas.We are seeking an Area Program Manager to serve the island of Abaco, Bahamas.The Area Program Manager is responsible to assist the Area Coordinator in providing overall leadership and support for the program teams on Abaco, and will be responsible for the implementation of all internally and externally funded programs.Will you join us in reaching out to those in the Bahamas with the hope of Jesus Christ?

A day in the life of an Area Program Manager:

In the role of Area Program Manager you will:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Work with the Deputy Country Director, Area Coordinator and other members of senior management team to create, articulate and pursue a clear vision and strategy for Samaritan’s Purse (SP) on Abaco
  • Responsible for leadership, direction and supervision of program managers (PMs), to ensure effective management of all internally and externally funded programs across Abaco
  • Liaise with donors and potential partners in identifying and pursuing potential program and funding opportunities
  • Maintain and uphold organizational and operational policies and procedures of SP, with particular focus on program and grant management, ensuring compliance with legal, cultural and donor requirements
  • Ensure on-time submission of monthly reports, both financial and programming, maintaining high integrity and transparency
  • Monitor potential and present humanitarian emergencies and keep Country Director informed of events, including potential programmatic response
  • Provide professional representation for SP with government officials, dignitaries, project partners, other Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and visitors as it relates to programs on Abaco
  • Responsible for recruitment, orientation and performance management of supervised staff, involving planning, task assignment, addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4 year college or university in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ of international humanitarian experience in a management role with ability to lead large cross cultural teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, communication skills (written and verbal) and networking skills
  • Strong knowledge of project planning and implementation; strategic thinker
  • Experience with financial and administrative coordination
  • Flexible, adaptable and able to work with a diverse team in a pressured environment
  • Spiritually mature, focused on the spiritual well-being of your team and goal of sharing the Gospel
  • Able to travel to field sites to monitor projects; problem solver
  • Fluency in English (required)
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required)

Job Location: Abaco, Bahamas
