Assistant Controller, New York, NY. Overseeing the accounting operations of the company; Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions; Managing and monitoring all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems and ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements as well as internal financial policies; Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements; Coordinating activities for external auditors, tax certiorari work, annual tax returns, etc.; Managing the budget process and providing management with information vital to the decision-making process; Assessing current accounting operations, and offering recommendations for the improvement and implementation of new processes; Developing implement and enforcing accounting policies and internal controls; Overseeing regulatory reporting, including tax and compliance, as well as required periodic filings (e.g. RPIEs); Complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions; Performing bank reconciliations and other cash management functions; Full cycle accounts payable which includes coding expenses to the correct cost code and ensuring payments are disbursed on a timely and accurate basis; Investigating and resolving all billing issues; Reviewing general ledger activity to verify information has been posted correctly; Reviewing accounts receivable aging reports for delinquencies, prepaid rent, etc.; Preparing security deposit refund requests and analysis/ reconciliation of security accounts; Preparing and processing tenants' pass throughs (e.g. real estate taxes and water/ sewer). Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Taxation. Requires 3+ years of real estate specific accounting experience. Must be experienced with tech-driven property management and payable systems (RealPage, AppFolio, AvidXchange, etc.). Salary: $118,810.00/year.
