Job Description
Under administrative direction, performs work of considerable difficulty planning, administering and supervising clinical, services provided by Counseling Services staff; supporting administration of training, consultation, and outreach services; and providing professional counseling services to students with educational, emotional and social problems. Serves as a member of the Counseling Services management team; works integrally clinical leadership team to lead all aspects of clinical work across 4 locations.
Assistant Director, CS Consultation will lead a newly formed team that designs effective prevention, intervention, consultation within the housing environment, and delivers evening crisis response services onsite to housing communities. Will work alongside CS Management Team, Outreach team, Prevention teams and Housing team to build best design for expanded consultation and prevention focused in residential communities.

Salary Range
$82,000 - $84,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties
- Provides oversight for clinical service delivery, including designing and ongoing refinement of service delivery model, and attendant training and monitoring of staff functioning within the model, in compliance with accepted professional standards of clinical practice.
- Directs clinical leadership and oversight across four locations for one or more of the following services:
- Access team, Intensive Care Team, Continuing Care Team, On-Call Services, Mandated Assessment
- Provides services, specialty clinical services (group programming, behavioral health services, and services for athletes), or specialty consultation services.
- Provides administrative supervision for clinical staff who will work both during daytime and evening shifts.
- Assists Leadership team in the administrative supervision of a multi-disciplinary clinical staff across four locations.
- Provides consultation to university administrators, faculty, staff. Will work alongside housing professional community for regular consultation.
- Collaborates with Clinical Support and Business Operations staff to coordinate and implement clinical operations, data collection, and agency technology initiatives.
- Prepares detailed reports related to services in areas of primary responsibility.
- Provides clinical and outreach services to university students at a reduced caseload as assigned, including but not limited to crisis response, assessment, on-call emergency response, time limited psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, and outreach activities.
- Provides training and supervision as needed for Counseling Services general trainees and unlicensed staff.
- Performs additional professional services based on individual skill and interests consistent with department's need.
- Engages in professional development activities to maintain licensure/certification.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in a mental health field such as social work, or counseling from an accredited institution AND Licensure by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners in the appropriate field AND five (5) years post graduate clinical experience with responsibilities including mental health assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, training, which includes one (1) year as a clinical supervisor; OR Earned doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from a doctoral program accredited by the American Psychological Association AND Completion of an internship accredited by the American Psychological Association AND three (3) years experience as a psychologist, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience. Licensed psychologist or eligible for licensure in Arizona within one (1) year of employment.
Desired Qualifications
- Evidence of LSCW, LPC, LMFT, PsyD, or PhD independent licensure in Arizona.
- Experience working alongside University housing professional staff, providing consultation on mental health and student development topics
- Experience teaching student development or mental health content to young adults
- Experience delivering crisis intervention in natural settings of young adults, including working alongside police officers, concerned friends or family, and reporting parties.
- Experience with on-site crisis assessment and intervention.
- Experience consulting on risk assessment with non-clinical professionals.
- Experience providing supportive services after an unexpected traumatic event, including familiarity with postvention best practices.
- Knowledge of effective supervisory and managerial practices.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of student development and human development, including application to diverse staff and students.
- Knowledge of the contemporary thought, methods, techniques, and procedures of current counseling practices.
Working Environment
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse
- Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.;
- Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals;
- Receives periodic review of work activities to ensure adherence to established goals, objectives, and deliverables.
