Job Description

Definition

Definition: Promotes high attendance by tracking and auditing attendance daily, enforcing attendance policies maintaining positive parent interactions and supporting the efforts of the Superintendent and Early Childhood Education Center to improve attendance.

Primary Functions : (Primary functions may include the following tasks, knowledge, abilities, skills, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions within this classification).

Examples of Tasks

Tasks :
  • Utilizes attendance computer program and other data collection sources to generate daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports and statistics for ECEC Administrative Staff.
  • Identified trends and works in conjunction with staff in order to create a plan to support families.
  • Prepares late arrival and pick-up reports.
  • Initiates and receives parent calls and inquiries regarding student absence/late arrivals.
  • Educate staff and families of the attendance procedures.
  • Ensure that accurate and timely attendance records are maintained.
  • Utilizes attendance computer program to perform data entry, code absence and perform audits.
  • Receives and documents incoming communications regarding student absences.
  • Remains current on research and standards in regards to Early Childhood Attendance.
  • Collaborates with Family Services, Classroom and Administration staff to support the needs of student and Families
  • Attends Education Division meetings regarding student attendance
  • Provides student attendance monthly certificates.
  • Cross train other office staff in the attendance process.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:

Knowledge of:
  • History, culture, traditions, and customs of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
  • Computer database programs
  • Computer skills to include data entry
  • Automated attendance tracking system and/or willingness to learn a new system within one month of hire.

Skilled in:
  • Effective verbal and written communications
  • Use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic math
  • Conflict resolution and problem solving
  • Operates standard office equipment i.e., computer, fax, copier, and other office machines.

Ability to:
  • Remain positive and professional at all times in interaction with staff, parents, students, and Community
  • Interact with parents while maintaining a calm demeanor
  • Work under stressful conditions
  • Type 45 words per minute
  • Meet strict daily deadlines
  • Work with others in a collaborative environment


Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Two (2) years' experience with a computer database application, preferably in a school setting.

Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, will be considered.

Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill.

Special Requirements

Driving Requirement: This job description does not require the incumbent to drive; however, any employee who chooses or is asked to drive any vehicle for work related community business must receive written annual authorization to do so. For clarification, work related community business includes driving to and from SRPMIC government sites and buildings.
Terms of Employment: This position is treated as a full-time non-exempt position scheduled for 40 hours per week.

Prior to hire as an employee, applicants will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. Will be required to pass a pre-employment background/fingerprint check.
