  • Overview

    The Behavior Intervention Specialist is responsible for conducting indirect and direct assessment of member’s behaviors to assist in developing ABA treatment plans and Functional Behavior Assessments. The Behavior Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing consultation and training to others in the use of behavioral intervention strategies. The Behavior Intervention Specialist is also responsible for the implementation of plans developed by the Behavior Assessment Specialist and supervising Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct intake and indirect assessments to identify targets for behavior change and obtain information that directs further assessment.
    • Conduct direct assessments and analyze data to assist in developing Antecedent-Behavior-Consequence (ABC) table and complete FBA using designated AIC FBA template.
    • Assist in developing behavior intervention plan (BIP) using strategies that support the identified functions of behavior and established hypotheses.
    • Provide consultation to CFT teams regarding behavior intervention strategies.
    • Conduct on-site and off-site training to CFT teams on how to implement strategies outlined in the FBA.
    • Participate in follow-up FBA trainings when necessary, or as requested by supervisor.
    • Assist in developing data collection materials for assessment purposes.
    • Submit completed FBA’s to supervisor for review.
    • Complete any materials associated with the strategies outlined in the FBA and provide to CFT teams.
    • Enter signed FBAs in Electronic Health Record (EHR) using Residential FBA code and inform supervisor within 24 hours for supervisor approval.
    • Complete progress notes using the appropriate codes in Electronic Health Record (EHR) when necessary, or as requested by supervisor.
    • Maintain member’s (MBRs) files in accordance with ICHD and contractual standards.
    • Follows agency purchasing and accounting procedures.
    • Completes all training required by licensing and/or agency, or as requested by supervisor
    • Participates in clinical supervision with Program Director (weekly, if required for licensure)
    • Attend Child & Family Team (CFT) meetings for assigned MBRs, or as requested by supervisor.
    • Participates in team meetings or attends other meetings as appropriate, or as requested by supervisor.
    • Maintains adherence to schedule approved by Program Director/BCBA, as applicable to position. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and some weekend work for appropriate delivery of services and crisis management.

    Qualifications

    • Education– Master’s degree in Special Education or Applied Behavioral Analysis preferred; Bachelor’s degree required.
    • Experience – One year full-time direct applied experience working with individuals with challenging behaviors, or applied behavior analysis experience preferred
    • Certification - BCaBA or BCBA certification preferred.
    • Regulatory -
    o 21 years of age
    o Current, valid Driver’s License, 39 month Motor Vehicle Report and proof of vehicle registration and liability coverage to meet insurance requirements.
    o Eligible for DPS Level I fingerprint clearance.
