Department: BH First Episode Center - E Valley

Schedule: Regular FT 40 Hours Per Week

At Valleywise Health, we believe in second chances, resilience, and the power of recovery. As a Recovery Coach in our First Episode Center (FEC), youll play a pivotal role in guiding individuals and families through the early stages of psychosis, providing vital support, treatment, and guidance during this critical time in their journey.
Under the direction of the FEC Program Supervisor and as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, you will deliver specialized, community-based services to patients and their families. You will provide evidence-based therapies, case management, crisis intervention, and ongoing support to ensure individuals are not just treated, but empowered and supported throughout their recovery.
What Youll Do:
  • Provide individualized counseling and therapy (including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Enhancement Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) tailored to those experiencing their first episode of psychosis
  • Offer case management, crisis interventions, and ongoing support for both individuals and their families throughout the recovery process
  • Utilize evidence-based approaches like motivational interviewing, substance abuse interventions, and trauma-informed care to foster lasting recovery and resilience
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to create personalized care plans and ensure seamless care integration between the First Episode Center and the community
  • Act as a compassionate mentor and guide, empowering patients and families to take an active role in the recovery journey
  • Provide services in both FEC settings and the community, meeting individuals where they are to offer the support they need when they need it most

Annual Salary Range: $56,160 - $82,846
Qualifications
Education:
  • Requires a Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
Experience:
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience providing mental health psychotherapy that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Specialized Training:
  • Prefer specialized training in chemical dependency assessment and treatment.
Certification/Licensure:
  • Must be licensed by the AZ Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or
  • Must have either a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and be able to obtain a LCSW, LPC or LMFT within 36 months of employment in position.
  • Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid AZ issued driver's license in good standing, and must carry the AZ legally required minimum insurance coverage on personal vehicle at all times.
  • Must be able to provide a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Pursuant to Arizona Administrative Code R9-10-306 CHAPTER 10 of the Dept. of Health Services, personnel must be at least 21 years of age, or at least 18 years of age and licensed or certified under A.R.S. Title 32, and providing services within the personnel members scope of practice.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
  • Requires knowledge of chemical dependency and mental health and ability to facilitate individual, family group counseling sessions with a dually diagnosed population.
  • Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English, including professional level usage of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
