Tribal Driving Permit Required: YesDISTINGUSIHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) position is responsible for developing and monitoring behavior plans
on residents with behavioral problems and/or developmental issues. The BHT will work directly with residents
and direct care staff to ensure behavior plans is properly implemented and is consistent for both resident and staff.
The BHT will be responsible for providing 1 on 1 intervention and assistance with resident(s) that are
experiencing disruptive behaviors and need close monitoring. The BHT responsibilities will include the on-going
evaluation of behavior modi?cation progress, assessment of resident need for mental health evaluation and
assisting with transporting resident(s) to and from external behavioral health appointments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides one on one or group skill building and problem solving training for residents focusing on decreasing
disruptive and maladaptive behavior.Works closely with residents and staff in the development and implementation of individual behavior plan
supporting residents needs and development level.Assist direct care staff with new residents in the area of adjustment to residential environment, understanding
of facility rules and guidelines, and help residents feel safe and comfortable in their new setting.Provides intervention for resident(s) displaying aggressive behavior by applying appropriate problem solving
and verbal de-escalation skills in a crisis situation.Responds to crisis situations of residents and contacts appropriate individuals or services to obtain appropriate
treatment.Assists direct care staff in keeping the residents and their environment safe.Will schedule and complete the Special Services Assessment form for all children over 5 admitted into
Residential Program for Youth (RPY) within 10 days of admission.Recommendations for services will be based on the information gathered from the Special Services Screening
form.Work closely with the residents, Tribal Social Services Case Workers, and RPY staff and collaborate with all
individuals involved in resident care regarding referrals to outside agencies.Complete and maintain all required documentation pertaining to residents behavior plan including any
progress or barriers in meeting identi?ed goal(s).Document all individual and group services provided to residents.Document any pertinent information gathered from staff or residents in the daily shift report and the resident(s)
?le to ensure direct care staff are informed about any changes in a residents behavior or behavior plan.
Provides weekly report to the RPY Administrator and Youth Services Coordinators outlining the activities in
the 7 to 9 units, 10 plus Male and 10 plus Female units highlighting services provided, goals, and challenges.
Participates in weekly RPY/TSS staff meetings to review and discuss residents behavioral needs, issues,
and/or progress.Advocates for and provides concrete services including transportation that are directly related to the residents
goals.Attends required training and continued education directly related to their speci?c duties.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:Requires considerable knowledge of Residential Programs.Requires considerable knowledge of the Child Welfare System.Requires considerable knowledge of American Indian Cultures.Requires considerable knowledge of childhood and adolescent mental health and behavioral disorders, early
childhood development, and behavior modi?cation techniques and principals.Requires the ability to work with children that have been traumatized.Requires considerable knowledge of trauma informed care.Requires the ability to problem solve.Requires the ability to be well organized.Requires the ability to utilize computers.Requires the ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.Requires the willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.Requires an employee to exhibit sound judgment with the ability to make decisions independently.Requires skills in developing and implementing behavioral plans.Requires the ability to work cooperatively with other employees and independently.Requires the ability to understand GRIC and department policy and procedures, ethical principles and
standards, employee code of ethics and confidentiality.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Associates degree from an accredited college or university in a ?eld related to Behavioral Health and a minimum
of three (3) years experience in behavioral health work or health care setting, or any combination of education,
training, or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the functions of this position.Bachelors degree is preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Required to pass a background check and ?ngerprint clearance as a condition of employment and must
continue to maintain throughout duration of employment. Background checks are required for positions that
involve regular contact with or control over Community Children in accordance with The Indian Child
Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, 25 U.S.C. Sections 3201 through 3210 and C.F.R. Part 63
and positions that have regular contact with the Elderly.Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission
of the application.Required mandatory reporter pursuant to Title 7, Chapter 2 (7.205), B.Required to attend Title 7 Mandatory Reporting training on a yearly basis.Non-Supervisory, Salaried Position
