Job Description:
Salary: The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $56,000 depending on experience.
The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and Arizona PBS seek a Business Operations Specialist to join its fiscal and business operations team. This position will play a key role in monitoring and controlling daily business and financial operations.
Essential Duties:
· Processes travel reimbursements, purchase of supplies, services, and equipment with use of P Card and other purchasing documents in accordance with established procurement and financial policies.
· Processes and reconciles accounts receivable, ensuring funds are appropriately deposited into university and foundation accounts.
· Prepares and summarizes a variety of routine operational and status reports to management including but not limited to: financial performance of programs/projects and personnel costs to provide trends for decision making by unit leadership.
· Travel processing in the Concur travel system, including trip request submissions and approvals, expense report review and approvals, and travel expense tracking.
· Distributes expenses as directed among accounts to ensure accurate accounting of the use of funds; performs account reconciliations.
· Takes appropriate action to ensure expenditures conform to project funding changes; initiates financial documents to ensure proper recording of revenue and expense.
· Remains current regarding all newly created, changed and/or updated policies, practices and methods.
· Performs routine accounting, and other financial or related functions, processes routine payroll transactions in compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
· Assists in implementation of procedures for daily operations of assigned functions according to established policies; prepares and updates desk manuals.
· Maintains and controls department records, files and inventory functions to ensure compliance with all requirements and policies.
Desired Qualifications:
· Experience with Workday or other accounting software.
· Demonstrates knowledge of ASU financial and administrative systems: ASU and Foundation Workday, Workday HCM, Concur, ability to adapt to new technology.
· Experience in working effectively in an environment subject to tight deadlines and quickly changing priorities.
· Experience with PC based software for creating spreadsheets, word processing and presentations.
· Evidence of effective communications skills.
· Experience in adapting to new technology.
· Experience in coordinating activities and establishing priorities.
Working Environment:
· Our office is located at 555 North Central Avenue, Phoenix.
· Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
· Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
· Communicate to perform essential functions.
· Use standard office equipment including but not limited to, computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree and one (1) year of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
