Job Description

Under the joint supervision of the Deputy VP/Dean of Students and the Associate VP for Finance Office within EOSS, the Business Operations Manager, Senior (BOM, Sr.) manages the planning, organizing and coordinating of the business operations and fiscal functions of the unit in accordance with established goals, priorities, time limitations, funding limitations and other specifications. The BOM, Sr. is responsible for overseeing/managing all aspects of the human resources functions related to the Deans of Students. These functions include all budgeting and forecasting, accounting, human resources, strategic planning, inventory control, internal procedures and other fiscal and human resource functions designated by leadership. The BOM, Sr. will oversee all aspects of multiple and varied accounts in a One University Model and work closely with directors across the department’s core units, which include Dean’s office for Tempe campus and Student Community and Connection, which includes management of the student programming fee that supports student organizations such as Associate Students of Arizona State University, Programming and Activities Board - Tempe, and ASU Coalitions. The BOM, Sr. will supervise staff and student employees as part of the fiscal and HR team.

 

Days and Schedule: Work location is primarily at the Tempe campus; however, incumbent may be required to travel to off-campus events and other ASU campuses to perform work driving their own vehicle. This position is a Full-time position from Monday thru Friday 8AM to 5PM, evenings and weekends may be occasionally be required.

 

Flexible work arrangements are available in an alternative or hybrid schedule but will be based on the work and the needs of the university and department operations and pending leadership approval

 

Salary Range

$66,700 - $75,000 per year; DOE

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a related field and eight (8) years of directly related administrative experience which includes at least four (4) years supervisory experience; OR, Twelve (12) years of directly related administrative experience which includes at least four (4) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

·        Experience managing business and financial functions within a University setting.

·        Demonstrated knowledge of ASU’s business, finance, and human resources policies and procedures.

·        Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and budgeting practices and principles.

·        Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to budgeting and accounting practices.

·        Demonstrated knowledge of management principles and practices.

·        Demonstrated knowledge of supervision practices and techniques.

·        Experience in coordinating projects and establishing priorities.

·        Evidence of effective verbal, nonverbal and written communication skills.

·        Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time

·        Work collaboratively across various departments within the University as well as with diverse populations and groups

·        Develop and deliver presentations to groups

·        Use computers effectively – including inputting, reviewing and retrieving information, extended periods of viewing screen and using mouse and keyboard

·        Research, develop, implement and assess programs

·        Develop budgets and monitor expenditures

·        Walk throughout campus for meetings or events, regardless of the weather

·        Work collaboratively to achieve objectives

·        Climb stairs in locations with no elevator, such as with the mezzanine level of the MU, or Irish Hall

·        Ability to lift 35 lbs.
