Primary Purpose:

The Eanes ISD Child Development Center is looking for educators with a passion for early childhood.

Our schools are play-based environments focused on the growth and development of each child in our care. We are accredited at the highest level with Texas Rising Star. The CDC is a co-teaching environment run with low child to teacher ratios. On a daily basis, you will be responsible for the care of children between 18-35 months (usually broken down to two different classrooms). Current ratios for these rooms range from 10-11 children to two teachers.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Higher education (CDA, Associates, Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D.) in early childhood education or related field is preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is required (we will train if necessary)

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Able to work between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
  • Provide active and global supervision of all children in care; maintain class transition logs
  • Work collaboratively with co-teacher, ensuring continuity of care and a positive classroom environment
  • Know, understand and implement program philosophy and Minimum Standards for Child

Care Centers as set forth by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services

  • Know, understand and implement policies within the CDC Employee Handbook including safety procedures
  • Attend staff meetings, sometimes after work hours (approximately 4-6 per year)
  • Obtain 30 hours of continuing education annually to meet Minimum Standards
  • Plan and prepare your classroom and environment, maintain developmentally appropriate expectations and activities for all children as individuals and a group
  • Create and implement weekly lesson plans, assess growth and development on a daily basis and hold parent teacher conferences at least once per year
  • Recognize signs of illness, fatigue and/or abuse in children
  • Build cooperative and meaningful relationships with parents and sustain communication via multiple channels
  • Build positive rapport with team members, elementary school colleagues and district administration
  • Comfort with technology (iPads and computers), used as a classroom tool and for district communication
  • Maintain confidentiality of the program and families/children
  • Complete diapering, hand washing, cleaning and sanitizing duties in accordance with

Minimum Standards

  • Maintain and share daily sheets of Infant activity with parents
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs., bend, squat, kneel and move around comfortably with young children
