Job Description
General Description of Duties: The CFO/VP of Accounting is responsible for all agency fiscal management functions and the supervision of assigned department staff. The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial related activities of the company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, data analysis, and strategic planning. Will provide recommendations to strategically enhance the financial performance of the organization and increase business opportunities. Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends, and forecasts. Provide the Executive Team and CAO with advice on financial implications of business activities. Will be responsible for all fiscal reporting, including budgeting, cash flow, cost accounting, and systems analysis. Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting. Monitors payroll production, accounts payable, accounts receivable, client billings; ensures adequate documentation is available for audits as required and provides all necessary support. Establish and maintain strong relationships with the senior management team.
Education and Training: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA and/or CPA highly desirable. Must have ten (10) plus years of experience in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in a non-profit environment. Established managerial skills and supervisory experience is required. Must be knowledgeable about accounting principles and procedures, investment of funds, and financial planning. Must thrive in a fast-paced and pressured environment and must be able to shift to other functions and priorities as needed. Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time and have the ability to work independently or in groups with a firm understanding of Adelante culture, and approach tasks with an innovative mind-set and positive outlook in completing goals. Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, with internal and external customers of Adelante. Have the ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, supervisors, and co-workers.
Other Requirements: Must be able to pass background/fingerprint investigation and pre-employment drug screening. Must possess a valid NM driver’s license and proof of auto liability insurance. Must have own reliable transportation and agency insurable driving record. Must be able to sit, perform keyboarding functions, and utilize a calculator continually. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach above shoulder(s) frequently. Must be able to carry, lift 10 lbs. occasionally. May be required to visit various locations to carry out essential job duties. Adelante is a drug free workplace.
