Job Description
Southwest Behavioral & Health Services is seeking a Chief People Officer to join our People Experience Department! This position will give you the opportunity to make an immediate and meaningful impact in the lives of our employees and the members we serve.
This is a Hybrid position working both from home and at our Administration Building located in Phoenix, Arizona. Work schedule will be Monday through Friday during business hours.
About the Position
In collaboration with our Chief Executive Officer, you will plan, organize and direct the activities and staff of the People Experience Department. This includes developing and implementing recruitment and selection strategy, implementing compensation strategy, implementing employee benefit strategy, enhancing employee relations initiatives and equal employment law compliance. The Chief People Officer functions as an advisor to the Executive Team on relevant Human Resource trends, leadership development and training, talent scouting, organizational culture (including fostering a supportive, inclusive and growth oriented environment) and employee performance metrics/evaluation structure.
Location & Schedule:
- This is a Hybrid Business Schedule, reporting to the Administration building located on 3rd Street and Osborne Road.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Empathy-Centric Leadership:
- Understand and empathize with the challenges faced by employees and the community.
- Develop initiatives and strategies rooted in empathy, addressing staff and member needs.
- Prioritize compassion in interactions, especially during difficult conversations.
- Strategic Human Resource Expertise:
- Proficient in Human Resources practices tailored to healthcare providers.
- Oversee leadership, recruitment, training, retention, and succession planning.
- Must have extensive experience with a major Human Capital Management System for a large organization and act as the system owner, collaborating with key stakeholders.
- Lead initiatives focused on enhancing the candidate and employee experience from the offer to employment.
- Collaborate with management to implement the company's vision, focusing on leadership training and employee experience.
- Manage departmental programs, policies, and sensitive issue resolutions.
- Leadership and Team Building:
- Assume full management responsibility for all People Experience Department functions and activities.
- Inspire and lead diverse teams, fostering collaboration and professionalism.
- Represent the organization internally and externally with integrity and trust.
- Advocate for the mission, vision, and values, encouraging healthy dialogue.
- Cultural Competence and DEI Commitment:
- Promote diversity in recruitment and retention strategies.
- Possess strategic HR expertise tailored to healthcare providers, including cultural competence and DEI initiatives.
- Manage personnel relations considering cultural backgrounds and values.
- Data Utilization and Change Management:
- Understand and leverage Human Resources/People Experience analytics to align with organizational goals.
- Utilize People Experience analytics to influence recruitment, selection, and retention efforts.
- Effectively manage organizational change within a dynamic healthcare environment.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills.
- Communicate and lead change initiatives effectively across the organization.
- Implement evidence-based change management frameworks.

- Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and respectful communication.

- Comprehend the impact of Human Resources on business dynamics and revenue.

- Translate organizational objectives into actionable talent-oriented steps.

- Board Experience and Communication:
- Provide meaningful input at board levels, supporting C-Suite decisions.

- Engage in various boards and committees, staying updated on industry trends and innovations.
- Approachability and Openness:
- Cultivate an open, approachable atmosphere encouraging diverse perspectives.
- Display openness to new ideas, admitting when perspectives may need adjustment.
- Foster transparency in Human Resource processes while maintaining necessary confidentiality.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or related field required
- 8 years of progressive experience required that includes senior level management, experience on a leadership team that includes Executive Team exposure and supervisory experience within the Human Resources department for a large company with 500 employees
- SHRM (SCP or CP), PHR or CPHR Certification required
Preferred Requirement
MBA/MA in Business, Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, Industrial Psychology or related field preferred
