Job Description
The Clerk I performs clerical work of limited complexity which follows well-established procedures. Work
involves varied tasks, which are normally given closer supervision than those that are repetitive. Advice is given
to employee on unusual work problems and is reviewed or checked upon completion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes,
and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service.
Operate standard office equipment such as a copy machine, computer, and fax machine.
Assist Receptionist in directing visitors to appropriate staff members and receive incoming telephone calls.
File and retrieve reports, invoices, purchase orders and other documents according to specified filing system,
as requested.
Type a variety of correspondence/documents from rough draft and straight copy.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Knowledge of the English Language, spelling, and punctuation rules/basics.
Knowledge of modern office practices and equipment.
Ability to do and check basic arithmetic calculations.
Ability to perform basic clerical tasks accurately and quickly.
Ability to follow oral directions and written instructions and have good judgment.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community officials and the
general public.
Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:High School Diploma or GED and six (6) months clerical experience.
