Job Description
The Clinical Pharmacist in Clinical Geriatrics conducts medical literature reviews to prepare clinical and regulatory support for pharmacists, nurses and other health care professionals in the long-term care setting. This role will focus on converting clinical guidelines, primary literature, prescribing information, and compendia into actionable written guidance for clinicians in the care of the elderly patient.

A large portion of the position includes maintaining the Omnicare System for Clinical Cost Outcome Retrieval (OSC2OR) consultant pharmacy database of best practice recommendations, tracking changes to the database and preparing documents for review by internal and external experts.

The ideal candidate would work a hybrid role in our Buffalo Grove, IL office location, but this role does include the opportunity work remotely from anywhere within the United States.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
Minimum: 82,000
Maximum: 176,800

Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.

Required Qualifications
- Licensed Pharmaicst in good standing in state of residence
- 2+ years relevant clinical Pharmacist experience in a geriatric and/or ambulatory care setting OR completion of an ambulatory care residency and 1+ relevant clinical Pharmacist experience in a geriatric and/or ambulatory care setting
- General knowledge of concepts of geriatrics and clinical programs
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 5% as needed

Preferred Qualifications
- Board Certified Geriatric Specialist
- Excellent clinical and analytical skills. Proficient in on-line literature retrieval and evidence-based medicine.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills, including the ability to tailor the message to the specific audience.
- Broad knowledge across multiple complex disease states (e.g., infectious disease, neurology, endocrinology, cardiology, etc.) of the current landscape of drug therapy.
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and multitask under minimal supervision. Must be able to work with tight deadlines and competing priorities.
- Excellent attention to detail in proofreading documents for accuracy, spelling, grammar, and content.
- Confidence in articulating issues and recommendations to management.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Understanding of the health care industry, especially the payer systems, current trends and issues.
- Understanding of Federal and State regulations that affect geriatric patients such as Medicare Part D, Medicare Part B and the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Education
Bachelor Pharmacy Degree Required
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Preferred
Post Graduate Pharmacy Residency/Fellowship Preferred
Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification preferred
Board Certified Geriatric Specialist preferred
