Cocopah Casino - Groundskeeper

Summary

Landscape or maintain the grounds of the Casino property using hand or power tools or equipment. Grounds Keeper will perform a variety of tasks, which may include: mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, and sprinkler installation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Knowledge of grounds keeping machines and tools.
• Mows lawns, using power mower.
• Trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls.
• Digs holes for plants, inserts plants, and fills holes with dirt.
• Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs.
• Rakes and bags leaves.
• Cleans grounds and removes trash and debris.
• Seeds and fertilizes the lawn.
• Cleans and maintains the outside fountain.
• Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
• Water the lawn and shrubs.
• Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts.
• Decorates the garden with stones and plants.
• Sharpens tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears.
• Makes minor repairs on equipment such as lawn mowers, spreaders, etc.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Qualifications

• Prior experience in landscaping.
• Thorough understanding of the Compact between the Cocopah Indian Tribe and the State of Arizona.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently.
• Must be able to work outside climate environment.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must be certifiable by the Cocopah Tribal Gaming Office.
• Successful candidates will be subject to pre-employment and ongoing random drug testing.

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; a combination of education or experience may be considered.
• 1 year of prior experience in landscaping.
