Cocopah Tribal Government -Museum Maintenance / Groundskeeper
Job Description
Under the direction of the Museum Director/Cultural Programs Coordinator. The Maintenance/groundskeeper worker performs semi-skilled general maintenance, care and modification of the Museum, Cultural Center and Heritage Park Complex and landscapes which includes the operation of electrically-powered and gasoline-powered grounds keeping equipment and machines, changes lights bulbs, paints walls, woodwork, makes minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs, delivers supplies, materials and equipment needed and provides custodial services, etc.
Education requirements
High School graduate /GED
Experience requirements
At least two years experience in maintenance and/or landscaping work preferred.
Qualifications
Maintenance uniform required. Presentation of professional appearance and demeanor a must. Must have reliable transportation. Must possess a current valid Arizona Driver's License. Must be able to successfully pass DPS/FBI fingerprint background check.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibility of general cleaning, maintenance and security of all areas of the Tribal Museum, Cultural Center and Heritage Park. Responsible for maintaining and making minor repairs on machines, equipment and tools. Performs minor maintenance services, i.e., electrical plumbing, painting, air conditioning systems, and carpentry where not covered by warranty. Provides general janitorial services to the facilities. Performs building maintenance by replacing window/light fixtures, A/C filters, repair woodwork, replacing floor tiles and replacing washers in faucets. Perform landscape on immediate surrounding grounds area, i.e., cutting grass, trimming trees and watering grass. Participates in the annual Cocopah Cultural Celebration Day plans & implementation. Attends staff meetings, training, and workshops. Other duties may be assigned.
Skills
Ability to work well with others, including diverse personalities of museum visitors. Practice good organizational and time management skills. Flexible in work hours to cover evenings & weekends. Fluency in English. Cocopah & Spanish language a plus. Ability to work with minimum supervision. Must be computer literate. Knowledge in the operation, care and safety practices of standard maintenance equipment, i.e., floor polishers, power tools, mowers/tractors, & hand tools. Maintenance uniform required. Presentation of professional appearance and demeanor a must.
Work hours
40 hours per week, may be required to work weekends, holidays or special events
