Who are we?
The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) is a sovereign tribe located in the metropolitan Phoenix area. Bounded by the cities of Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa and Fountain Hills, the Community serves over 9,000 tribal members, and all persons conducting business over approximately 96 square miles area of residential, agricultural and commercial lands, as a full-service government entity. Health & Human Services has a program that serves women and children under five within the boundaries Maricopa and Pinal County in collaboration with other partners that support their growing bodies and provides resources.
What the job looks like:
You are the program first point-of-contact welcoming participants and applicants. Supporting a positive customer service while ensuring potential client has the opportunity to apply for WIC benefits. You can encourage healthy behaviors amongst WIC clients and their families, support nutrition education participation.

Prior to hire as an employee, applicants will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. Will be required to pass a pre-employment background/fingerprint check. Employees are subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

- Supports the team by determining eligibility to for WIC benefits.
- Helps the team take measurements to assess the optimal health education that is best for families.
- Listens to WIC clients to connect them with resources that WIC does not provide.
- Provides outstanding customer service to both clients and staff.
- Works with the Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Specialists in overall nutrition efforts.
What you have:
- Ability to provide quality customer service, as the first point-of-contact for participants and applicants.
- Experience with the WIC program and potential partners, and able to connect the Community to the benefits.
- Moderate technical skills and can learn new programs fairly quickly.
- Ability to provide resources and support families on health lifestyle changes, meal/snack ideas and wellness advice.
- Flexible schedule to meet the needs of the Community, including promotional and outreach events.
What you need:
- A High school Diploma or GED. Associate's degree in Nutrition or related field preferred.
- Successful completion of the ITCA competency-based training on performing the duties of Clerk and Certifier and breastfeeding course within 1 year of hire.
