Job Description

O'Neil Digital Solutions LLC is seeking a Data Scientist II for its Los Angeles, California office.

Job Duties: Apply advanced data science techniques to produce descriptive analytics, predictive models, clustering analysis, and recommender systems. Develop larger and more complex investment research themes. Design quantitative investment research tools and techniques. Organize in-depth research into specific areas of need across several data-intensive industries. Supervise the research of Quant Analysts and other Data Scientists. Share research findings with internal and external stakeholders, via presentations and written reports. Mentor junior team members. Telecommuting permitted.


Position Requirements:  

" Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Math, Engineering, or a directly related field 

" Three (3) years of experience in each of the following:

o Working with a project team in a corporate environment

o Data science techniques:

o Statistics including Descriptive Statistics, Hypothesis Testing and Statistical Significance and Probability Distributions (e.g., Binomial, Normal, T, Poisson, Chi-Squared)

o Unsupervised Machine Learning Techniques including Clustering (e.g., k-means, hierarchical clustering, gaussian mixture) and PCA

o Supervised Machine Learning Techniques including Linear Regression, Ridge, Lasso, & Elastic Net Regression, Logistic Regression, K-Nearest Neighbors, Decision Trees, Random Forest, Neural Networks, Ensemble Methods (e.g., bagging, boosting, stacking) and Time Series Methods (e.g. ARIMA, RNN)

o Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn, and matplotlib.

o Data Visualization using matplotlib and/or Seaborn

o SQL and Version Control (i.e., GIT)

o Data Preparation including Data Imputation, Outlier Detection, Normalization and Feature Engineering

o Optimization including Grid Search and Gradient Descent

o Model Evaluation including Classification Metrics (e.g., accuracy, precision, recall, F1, ROC), Regression Metrics (e.g., mean squared error, mean absolute error, R-squared) and Overfitting, Underfitting, and Cross Validation


Salary: $138,141.64 per year
