Position Summary

The Department of Pathology at the University of New Mexicos Health Sciences Center is dedicated to advancing research, education, and clinical services as we advocate for the health of all New Mexicans. As part of our commitment to excellence, we are seeking a dynamic, organized, and innovative HR Representative to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment that values innovation and continuous improvement. The HR Representative within the Department of Pathology will play a crucial role in supporting our faculty, staff, and students by managing various human resources functions. Working under general direction, you will be responsible for leveraging technology to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Recruitment Support: Assist with the recruitment process by posting job openings, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, and facilitating communication between hiring managers, committees, and candidates.
  2. Onboarding and Offboarding: Coordinate the onboarding process for new hires, including paperwork, orientation sessions, and training arrangements. Handle offboarding procedures as needed.
  3. Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and benefits. Address employee concerns and escalate issues as needed.
  4. Performance Management: Support the performance management process by tracking performance evaluations, providing reminders to managers, and assisting with documentation.
  5. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant labor laws, regulations, and university policies. Stay updated on changes in legislation and best practices in HR.
  6. Training and Development: Coordinate training programs and professional development opportunities for staff and faculty. Collaborate with departmental leadership to identify training needs and resources.
  7. Promotion and Tenure: Facilitate faculty and staff promotion processes ensuring appropriate paperwork is submitted on time to meet institutional deadlines.
  8. Special Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by departmental leadership, contributing to the overall success of the department and organization.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours; at least 4 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in human resources, preferably in an academic or healthcare setting.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience with UNM HSC hiring procedures for faculty and staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights.
  • Proactive attitude and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
